Our mission at Saddlebrook Beef Company is to provide a healthy alternative to mass produced food for our customers while supporting local farmers.
A brief history
This project was started for two main reasons.
First, we truly believe that the meat we sell is not only a healthy alternative to mass produced meat, but it is the best tasting meat. We only work with farmers who share our values and raise cattle ethically. We believe in our product and we are very excited to share it with our customers.
Secondly, as a family ran business, our original thought was to start this business as an investment in our children's future. By keeping them involved, we hope that they learn valuable, real-world lessons about business and managing responsibilities.
Where we are today
We are still very much in the start up phase. We are working on a strategy to price our products so we remain competitive and keep costs down, while still earning enough to grow the company.
We are licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a Meat and Poultry Broker. Today, most of our sales are done in bulk, when customers want 1/4, 1/2, or a whole cow. We do keep a very limited inventory to sell individually, but those typically go pretty quick.
Where we hope to be in the future
Our goal is to grow and earn enough to reinvest in the business and be able to keep a decent inventory soon. We would like to be in a position to support local farmers as best we can. Our strategy is to start small, make steady gains, and grow our business with our partners.
We do have ambitious long-term goals, but we are steadfast in our commitment to provide a healthy alternative to mass produced food for our customers while supporting local farmers, and we will not waiver from that.
